Job Description
We are recruiting for Junior Piping Designers in Ottawa, ON and/or St. John’s, NL.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop 3D product models for ship piping and ancillary systems for new ship construction and refit projects, using ShipConstructor
- Interpret technical, detail design and construction drawings related to systems design
- Develop specifications, sketches, requirements, and technical drawings
- Review of production outputs, ex: pipe spools and pipe Isometrics to ensure correctness of the 3D model and associated deliverables are compliant with specifications and standards
- Support technical discussions for project reviews
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on qualifications of applicant.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and 0-3 years related experience
- Producing functional and detail piping models and drawings for the shipbuilding, ship refit, marine environment
- Producing construction drawings including piping isometrics, pipe spools and pipe supports
- Pipe routing using Industry and project standards
- Engineering and design including 2D drawing layouts, Spec Review and Requirements definitions
- Proficiency in ShipConstructor is required
- ShipConstructor, Aveva E3D, PDMS experience would be considered an asset but not required
- Experience working within a shipyard would be an asset

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work within a team environment to support project completion
- Thorough understanding of quality and continuous improvement
- Decision making skills and problem solving considered an asset
- Eligibility for enrollment into Controlled Goods Program
- Eligible Canadian Security Status (Secret or above)
