Job Description

We are seeking Naval Architect Technologists or Engineers at any level of experience to join our team in a hands-on, onsite role. In this position, you will survey and inspect vessel repairs, evaluate coating conditions, and ensure compliance with standards. Your NACE Coating Inspector Certification will enable you to provide expert oversight of surface preparation, application, and coating performance on vessels undergoing repair and maintenance.

Location: Onsite – Victoria, British Columbia

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct inspections of vessel structures, repairs, and coatings to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Survey hulls, tanks, and structural components for coating condition, corrosion, and damage.
  • Document findings through reports, drawings, and photographs, and provide recommendations for repair or maintenance.
  • Interpret and apply technical, detail design and construction drawings related to vessel structures.
  • Collaborate with shipyard teams, contractors, and clients on repairs and coating conditions and applications.
  • Participate in technical discussions and project reviews.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on qualifications and project needs.

Qualifications:

Education & Certification:

  • Diploma or degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering/technologist field.
  • National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) – Coating Inspector Certification (CIP)– Level 1 or higher – required.

Experience:

  • Marine industry experience required.
  • Hands-on shipyard experience with vessel surveys, inspections, or repairs is preferred; however, entry-level candidates holding NACE certification are encouraged to apply.
