Job Description
We are currently recruiting to fill a Project Manager position in our Kanata, ON or St. John’s, NL office.
The Project Manager oversees the engineering/design team for one or multiple projects. They are responsible for initial schedule development and budget estimates for multi discipline projects including Structural, Piping, Electrical, and outfitting. This is a full-time collaborative position within either office with the potential for visits to client/project sites. The project manager will work closely with team members, the client, and 3rd party professionals if required, to ensure a projects budget and schedule are maintained. The ideal Project Manager will be self-motivated, trustworthy, organized and able to prioritize while working with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversight of Project Staff – The Project Manager will be involved in the hiring process for project staff. They will participate in interviews (when required), complete job reviews, and act as mentors for junior and intermediate team members. They also set and review professional development goals for team members.
- Review Technical Documents – The Project Manager will review technical drawings and other documentation associated with the project(s).
- Project Closeout – The Project Manager will produce reports to summarise interim project deliveries (if required), as well as reports to formally record the successful completion of a project.
- Design Project Budgets, Schedules, – The project manager will develop a project schedule and budget. They complete cost estimation reports, assign tasks to team members, and set deadlines.
- Review and report on Project Progress – The Project Manager will meet with team leads to discuss issues and work progression, ensure that projects are meeting specifications, and revise schedules, estimates and/or deadlines as necessary.
- Ensure team engagement – Project managers will meet with the technical manager and team leads to discuss issues and work progression, to make sure that team members are engaged and working to maximum productivity.
- Schedule Project Meetings – to provide project updates to senior management team
- Assist senior management in developing policies and procedures
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the qualifications of the applicant
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of prior experience as a Project Manager or similar role
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and office management software packages
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills to maintain schedules and budgets and track the progress of multiple projects
- Familiarity with project management procedures
- Ability to work under pressure, set and meet deadlines for project completion; flexible, resourceful and efficient
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent Problem-solving skills as you are continually assessing project progression. The project manager will address issues that create risk to successful project completion. They will set corrective measures to set a project on the correct path to successful completion.
- Must be able to work within a team environment to support project completion
- Eligibility for enrollment into the Controlled Goods Program
- Eligible Canadian Security Status (Secret or above)
