Job Description
We are recruiting for a Senior Electrical Technologist for an on-site role in Victoria, BC.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide senior-level technical support and subject matter expertise for marine electrical and electronic systems in a naval shipbuilding environment.
- Develop 3D product models and generate 2D drawings for ship electrical and instrumentation systems for both new construction and refit projects.
- Interpret and apply technical, detailed design, and construction drawings related to system design.
- Prepare cable schedules, electrical load lists, hazardous area equipment lists, voltage drop calculations, fault analysis calculations, and other technical documentation.
- Document completed work, test results, and deficiencies using approved reporting tools and systems.
- Assist in the development of specifications, standards, and technical requirements.
- Participate in and support technical discussions during project reviews.
- Mentor and support the development of less experienced team members.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, based on qualifications.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Technology; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and 8+ years related experience.
- Certified (or eligible) AScT
- At least four years of experience as an electrical or electronics technologist or technician in a naval setting, with submarine-specific experience viewed as an advantage
- In-depth knowledge of Victoria Class Submarine mechanical and electrical systems is highly desirable.
- Practical experience with fibre optic systems, including cable properties, connectors, termination, inspection, and testing, is an asset.
- Exposure to new construction commissioning or retro-commissioning activities is considered an asset.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, are desirable.
- ShipConstructor, Aveva E3D, PDMS experience would be considered an asset but not required
- Experience working within a shipyard would be an asset

- Eligibility for enrollment into Controlled Goods Program
- Eligible Canadian Security Status (Secret or above)
