Job Description
We are recruiting for Structural Surveyors to work on site in Halifax, NS.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct structural surveys on submarine and surface vessels throughout construction, refit, and maintenance activities.
- Perform visual inspections of tanks, compartment structures, pressure hull structures, and hull penetrations under the guidance of senior surveyors or engineers.
- Utilize standard surveyor tools and equipment—including pit gauges, feeler gauges, and bridge cam gauges—to measure corrosion, deformation, and weld characteristics.
- Record survey findings accurately, including measurements, photographs, sketches, and defect locations.
- Support structural assessments by identifying potential risks and flagging deficiencies for review.
- Assist in the preparation of survey reports, deficiency lists, and close-out documentation.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on qualifications of applicant.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Education and training that support the role of a structural surveyor (E.g. Lloyds Hull Inspection, Damage and Repair course, AMPP CIP Level, CSA W178.2 Welding Inspector Level 1 Course, American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Practical Welding Technology or CWB Welding Basics)
- At least 2 years of structural survey experience in the marine environment conducting visual inspections on tanks, compartment structure, pressure hull structure, or hull penetrations.
- Identifying and mapping structural defects in a coordinate system for reporting purposes.
- Competence in using surveyor tools such as pit gauges, feeler gauges, bridge cam gauges
- Experience working directly with clients and regulatory bodies through meetings and correspondence.
